Purpose of Metal Spinning

Metal spinning is a process in which metal is turned or spun. Typically a disc or tube of metal is spun around on a lathe around a pattern that allows the metal to be manipulated into whatever shape desired. The metal spinning technique is used when there is a specific need for a three dimensional object or shape. Examples of three dimensional shapes that might be created are cones, hemispheres or bells. A stronger object with greater structural durability and rigidity is the product of metal spinning. Typically metical spinning is used for the creation of specialty lighting, architectural detail, and household objects used for decoration. Any metal that is ductile can be used with metal spinning as it is easily spun.
